LIFE in FIVE

I'm not very good using Photoshop. I'm often the damsel in distress, texting Sam what I should click. what keys to press, etc. But I finally decided it has to end. So, here it is. One of my first Photoshop experiments. My gift for Sam for our 5th. I know he'll be proud of me, as he always is.

Very Short Story Vol. 1: LAMPPOST

(Isa ito sa mga favorite moments ko with Sam)

Pinapawisan ka na…” Sam’s voice was soft and breathy. The long walk from College of Math made us both sweat profusely. Sam tugged at his shirt, letting in some air, while I wiped the beads of sweat on my forehead and looked around. It was already dark in UPISSI. But the nighttime did little to obliterate the summer heat. Self consciously, I tried to fix my hair.

This is it.
It must be the walk, or maybe my nerves. My heart was beating fast. Say something, do it. But instead of saying something witty or sweet, I just stared at the big, looming, yellow lamppost, where fireflies were gathering, swallowing the light.

I said, daming gamu-gamo o. I didn’t bother to look if you were looking at the lamp post or not. But I felt it – your light steps on the pavement, your sweet, minty breath on my cheek, your hand on my neck. And the next thing I know, I felt your lips on mine. Gustong-gusto kita, Ali.

I felt my knees weaken, my head spinning. It’s been five years, but I can still remember it vividly now. You and I in the empty parking lot, fireflies dancing above us.
